SERVICES

Home Safety Assessment and Consultation

An occupational therapy home safety evaluation is generally the starting point in our process. It is a supportive, in-home visit designed to help you live safely and comfortably in your own space. An OT looks at how your home works for you, identifies potential safety concerns, and offers personalized recommendations to reduce fall risk, improve accessibility, and support independence. We also use observation and standardized assessments of a persons movements to determine patients risk for fall based on their current abilities and then work with families to create a personalized home safety and aging-in-place plan. We will move with you, outside and inside the home, to assess dozens of items and areas that can be problematic for people as we age.

Modification and Installation

Our home modification and installation services translate recommendations into practical environmental supports that can help make daily activities easier and reduce risk within the home. Anchor provides a wide range of modifications, including clinically informed grab bar placement and other fall-risk reduction interventions, along with many additional environmental adjustments.

We are not a handyman service. Our approach combines occupational therapy expertise with careful implementation and client education that typical installation services do not provide. This includes professional knowledge of health diagnoses, the aging process, and functional movement patterns.

Our modifications are guided by occupational therapy clinical reasoning, supporting appropriate placement and mounting methods based on the individual and the home environment. The goal is thoughtful changes that support safer movement, confidence, and independence. These interventions are intended to reduce risk and support function, but they do not eliminate the possibility of falls or injury.
